There was a trending topic on Twitter called “#dearyoungself,” but I decided to make it more grammatically correct. And then write a blog post about it.
To my seven year old self: It’s okay that you don’t have a best friend. There are better things to worry about, like how many scrunchies you currently own and how you can acquire more.
To my 11-12 year old self: This internet thing might seem a bit weird and unimportant, but it’s going to change your life for the better.
Erm, pretty much anytime at the beginning of college: Don’t cry over a boy. I know, it sounds cliche, but he’s not worth your tears.
To my 15 year old self: Stop sitting in the dark until 6am on your computer. You’re ruining your sight, as well as the relationships with your family members.
All the time: Don’t let the muggles get you down.
Another “during college” one: All those times you said you’d exercise? You won’t.
Befriend people who actually make an effort to be friends in return.
Sing LOUD and dance a lot.
She’ll go crazy. It’ll end.
Don’t envy the popular kids. You don’t want the drama.
You’re a bad driver, it gets better.
You will drop out of college and waste a lot of money. It’s a learning experience.
Thank you for going to VidCon last year and for making the same decision this year.
It gets sort of mixed up at the end but there are so many times when I tell myself these things, like the “don’t let the muggles get you down.” Which is from a Remus Lupins song. Yep.
I think I’m going to do BEDA. And I think at least half will be based on TT’s and some will be about VidCon.
